The Shard, London

Snapped this mid-construction pic of the monolithic Shard on my way home from a client’s office near London Bridge last week…

London’s newest architectural wonder, conceived by the Sellar Group, is due to complete in early 2012 and will be the city’s tallest building as well as the tallest building in Western Europe! Transforming the London skyline and towering above other recognisable landmarks like The London Eye and The Gherkin at a whopping 310 m (1,016 ft) high, it has been described as a “vertical city” offering high-quality offices, world-renowned restaurants, the 5-star Shangri-La hotel, exclusive residential apartments and the capital’s highest viewing gallery with 360° views. A shiny glass facade and sharp apex contribute to the Shard-by-name-shard-by-nature visual impact of this soon to be iconic London building.

VERY impressive, look forward to seeing it complete…
