The Basic Storyline: aspiring author Eddie Morra (played by the lush Bradley Cooper) is stuck in a rut and suffering chronic writer’s block until he bumps into his ex-brother-in-law who introduces him to NZT, a revolutionary new drug that allows people to unleash the full potential of their brains – we all know the old adages about human beings only being able to use up to 20% or less of their actual brain capacity bla bla bla….
Eddie can recall everything he has ever read, seen or heard. He learns languages in a day, understands complex numeric equations and can speak effortlessly and confidently to anyone he meets while consistently taking the drug… Soon he starts becoming a big shot and his “talents” don’t go un-noticed. Enter Wall Street mogul Carl Van Loon (played by Robert De Niro), amongst a host of other people who eventually find out about the drug and who are willing to do anything to get their hands on Eddie’s dwindling stash.
The Bird’s Thoughts: It was a bit slow in the middle but built up to a fabulous twisty ending – I loved the cinematography, watch out for the very cool upside down puking shot – but overall the idea behind it is so incredibly intriguing, I reckon that is what really keeps the audience hooked. Bradly Cooper isn’t a bad draw card either… Very interesting I must say! IMAGINE IF WE ALL COULD UNLOCK OUR POTENTIAL LIKE THAT… Cant decide if it would make the world a better or crazier place to live in?!
