Addicted to Pinterest

NO TIME TO SLEEP! MUST PIN!

If, like Andy Warhol (and the Bird, sometimes), you never really read but rather just look at the pictures – Pinterest is definitely for you! I’m obsessed with the “virtual pinboard” that should actually come with a free membership to Addicts Anonymous because it’s just that addictive – mark my words, it will take over your life! So what exactly is it?

“Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.” – from their website

My boards include images of amazy foods/recipes, graphic design inspiration, pictures of interior decor that I want to keep for my “one day home”, other art and illustration, crafty ideas, reminders of things I love and quotes that mean something to me – TOO MUCH FUN! I can literally get lost on Pinterest for hours, browsing the cool ideas and awesome images people have pinned! (Getting round to actually using all this inspiration is another thing…)

TO GET STARTED, you need to request an invite (you can do so here) – once you’ve signed up, download the pinapplet which will be permanently located on your browser toolbar. Create some boards and get pinning! Whenever you see an image on the tinterwebs that you lurrrvve, just click on the Pin It button and pin it to an appropriate board with whatever comment/description you want to include. Find friends and follow their boards too – you can re-pin images that they have found/re-pinned from others.

As described, it literally is a virtual pinboard but the best part is that it each image links back to it’s original source which is great for artists etc whose work is being pinned (no copyright infringements here because you arent actually using anyone’s stuff, just collecting it!). FYI – there is an app for iPhone users too which = double the fun for the Bird!

HAPPY PINNING PEOPLE x
